Where I Went

October 5, 2021

In the days of past I went places
Walked many a step for fun.
With friends and without them
Into open fields and dark caves.
Long and far did I go alone
Lost in the woods with bruised skin
Running through the meadow with bare feet
Flying kites and riding along the path
Sinking deep to the pool's bottom
On to the surface to take a breath.
In the rain and over cracked soil
But always a shadow on my trail
Whenever my forehead rested on my knees
The sunny sky smiled then did I
So wherever I go will not really matter
As long as I recall whatever I learn
And since now I know the way there and back,
Next time I go, I'll go farther—with a map.
