The Light That Never Fades

It started as any other day, a better one too, with bright rays of the morning sunshine illuminating the garden. Milo paddled his bicycle, just as he did most mornings for keeping active. It was quite a fine day until afternoon. But around afternoon, when he stepped out for doing his daily pull-ups, he had something on his mind. It was about some words that were spoken in not-so-good-faith by someone. In his younger days, he’d have been very upset. But experience, with the good teachings of his mentors made him realize it was best to analyze the situation. He knew if his own mind betrayed him, he’d have lost already.

He kept to the pull-ups and short and fast runs, with equal rigor as any other day, if not more. He was unperturbed, carrying on the task at hand mindfully.

Once he was inside, and was doing his push-ups, he kept thinking and analyzing some more during the sets of twenty-five reps each. He knew the person who made those comments clearly didn’t know any better, he knew how that person behaved during previous interactions, although somewhat brief they were. And if Milo had a choice, he knew that specific person would not even had a chance to interact with him in almost any manner—someone better kept at the arm’s distance.

Milo kept resting between sets and thinking.

Someone spoke in his mind.

“All the good you’ve been doing were not for nothing!”

“The universe has it’s own laws, you know this!”

The previous words didn’t annoy Milo anymore after hearing above in his own mind. Milo lived with a pure heart, he avoided snakery. He knew he was a force for good in the world, and he felt it in that strange way the universe makes you feel about yourself. A sense of triump slightly flashed over him. He’d been carefully creating a life of worth, one of growth, and goodwill. He was not going to be swayed by the comments of someone who didn’t even know enough about themselves, which showed in their behavior. Milo knew he had his own faults, and he analyzed himself, sometimes based on feedback from his circle. But this sitution was just about some person running their mouth on things they clearly didn’t know. So there it was, Milo realized he’d come a long way since childhood to understand things on a level that deep, and he knew he was nowhere near having a very good understanding on things. But he was above par, that much we’d have to agree.

Milo knew that the way of life he was building of his own time was a light itself, and also an afterglow that never fades.
